As much as I love all things exercise and fitness, I sometimes avoid writing about the topic as I don’t consider myself to be an expert. Sure, I like to think that I know quite a bit; soaking in as much information as possible throughout the years. However, at this time I know much more about how my own body responds to different exercises, and what fitness experiences I have personally enjoyed, or not enjoyed so much. I feel confident choosing fitness plans for myself, but not sharing guidelines and training plans with others. I have been considering getting my personal training and group exercise certificates for a while now, but have not yet pulled the trigger. Maybe someday soon though; there is nothing I would enjoy more than creating and sharing exercise suggestions, plans and workouts with all of you!
Until that day though, I will continue to share my own personal workout schedule while also directing all of you to certified fitness instructor programs that I find exciting and motivating. As many of you know, I loosely follow Jamie Eason’s LiveFit Trainer earlier this year and I really enjoyed it. The plan definitely opened my eyes! I liked how it introduced me to weight lifting and strength training when the majority of my exercise revolves around cardio, running when I can, and a lot of walking.
However, I found this program to be just a little too intense for me. The first 30 days, actually the first 60 days I enjoyed greatly, but the last stage required a little more dedication, time and commitment than I was willing to give. As much as I enjoyed this experience, I was ready to be done and to move onto the next challenge by the end.
Right now, I am trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather by getting outside and walking, with some running as much as possible. I am also starting a new challenge: Jamie Eason’s 30-Day Knockout Total Body Workout. So far I have tried both the arms and legs workouts each once and I really like it so far, (and I also found myself to be really sore the next day, especially in my legs). It pushes me without being overwhelming and it gives me a weight lifting plan, which is something I seem to do much better with than just winging it. My new workout plan for the next month or so looks like this:
- Monday – Arms Workout + 20 minutes cardio (treadmill or outside)
- Tuesday – Legs Workout + 20 minutes cardio (treadmill or outside)
- Wednesday – Rest Day or Walk
- Thursday – Arms Workout + 20 minutes cardio (treadmill or outside)
- Friday – Legs Workout + 20 minutes cardio (treadmill or outside)
- Saturday – Depends How I Feel: Walk, Run, Yoga, Full-Body Strength Training, or Rest Day!
- Sunday – Rest Day or Walk
When it comes to my goal of getting outside more, I don’t want to limit it to just exercise time. I am also setting a goal of eating my lunch outside at work at least three times a week too. I find that getting out of my cubicle and into the sunshine for a bit helps to lift my spirits immensely and provides me with a little motivation and encouragement to finish out my day on a positive note!
If you are looking for a fitness plan to follow this summer, give Jamie Eason’s 30-Day workout, or check out either of the following summer fitness plans that I love below. I signed up for both to receive the emails and encouragement even if I am not following the plans verbatim; just for a little extra inspiration and advice.
Another program I have wanted to do for a long time is Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp, which begins June 17th. Registration is open now though! A $40 registration fee gets you the following:
I have heard nothing except great things about Tina’s bootcamp, so if you are still looking for a summer workout plan make sure to sign up for this one!
