Now that summer is officially here and heating up, I find that I tend to put a bit more thought into the fact that my skin is going to be showing on a regular basis!
During the cold months, I have to admit that I don’t put quite as much time and energy into thinking about my skin care besides simply keeping it as hydrated as I can. I use a ton of moisturizer during the winter because my skin gets very dry from the cold weather. However, during the summer I know my skin will be showing more in my dresses, shorts and tanks. This is the main time of the year when I put a heavy focus on exfoliating, moisturizing and using sunscreen every single day. Sunscreen should absolutely be used all the time, even in the winter, but it’s more likely the I’ll remember to apply it when the weather is warm.
Since I’m concerned about protecting my skin from the sun’s harmful rays, I also find it important to use safe products on my skin as well. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it absorbs everything we slather on it! When we put moisturizers and soaps all over our bodies, we are also absorbing those ingredients found in the products we choose. Today I wanted to talk about a few of my very favorite summer products from Beautycounter, and also share an awesome promotion that Beautycounter is offering today through the 4th to celebrate the long holiday weekend!
I’ve talked a bit before about my favorite summer make up products such as the Color Pinch Cream Blusher in Hibiscus, as well as the Lip Sheer in Coral, and the Color Contour Matte Bronzer in No. 1.
When it comes to skin care though, my very favorite products for summer include Style Sea Salt Spray for my hair, which provides beachy waves even when you’re thousands of miles from the ocean. Hey, if you can’t go to the ocean, why not just pretend?!
I also am obsessed with the Lustro Sugar Scrub that I use twice a week for exfoliating my skin. Oh my goodness does this product smell amazing! Every time I use it I feel like I’m at a spa. The scrub is made up of ingredients like sugar, almond oil, and citrus peel, and it leaves me feeling and smelling fresh and smooth. I have read about similar body scrubs done at my favorite spa, but unfortunately those exfoliations can cost $85 or more for one session. The sugar scrub is a little pricey at $40, but believe me when I say that a little goes a long way. I use the exfoliator twice a week on my legs and arms, chest and shoulders. It only takes a little bit to really scrub your skin and leave it looking soft and smooth. I highly recommend using it before shaving your legs because it results in a really smooth finish. I also focus the sugar scrub on my knee caps, elbows and my heels.
When I’m finished with the sugar scrub, I follow up with Beautycounter’s Hydrate Everyday Body Lotion. This lotion is typically one of the very first items that I recommend to people who are new to Beautycounter. When you think about how much lotion you use on your body, making sure that your choice is a safe one is incredibly important! I love this lotion because it’s light, dries quickly and doesn’t feel sticky.
One item that I have not yet tried, but that I know that a lot of girls love for summer is our Lustro Shimmer Oil, which creates an awesome bronzing effect with just a hint of shimmer.
Finally when it comes to skin care in the summer, there’s no product I recommend more than our Beautycounter Protect All Over Suncreen SPF 30. I use the sunscreen every single time I’m out in the sun and I even use it on Jack, being sure to reapply every couple hours to be sure that his baby smooth skin stays protected.
